The city of Paris police department employs 60 police officers who work in the uniform patrol, criminal investigations and support service divisions. A total of 51 firemen are employed in Paris using the new central station and three substations to provide coverage throughout the city. Equipment includes four 1,500 GPM pumpers, one 105’ aerial ladder truck, two light duty off-road trucks for grass & brush fires, and a rescue/recovery service of one fully equipped truck and two boats. The City of Paris operates the Emergency Medical Service that provides ambulance service within the city. Lamar County maintains a contract with the city for service outside of Paris in the county. The City of Paris EMS maintains seven MICU units. The City of Paris EMS has three MICU’s on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Each MICU is staffed with two Paramedics to offer full Paramedic service. MICU’s are stationed at Paris Regional Medical Center North and South, and at the EMSstation behind Wal-Mart. Non-emergency transfers are available M-F from 8am-6pm. Fifteen “1st responders” are fully certified by the Texas Department of Health to assist the Paris EMS.  Emergency Medical Services

Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is a 78 member agency.  It consists of the Sheriff, a Chief Deputy, and 25 Sheriff Deputies.  Five of the deputies are Criminal Investigators and 3 are civil process, warrant/transport, and mental health deputies.  The Lamar County Detention consists of 38 Detention Officers and operates a 196 bed jail facility. The Emergency Dispatch Center consists of 8 Telecomunicators and the Sheriff’s Office has 5 clerical staff.  The Sheriff’s Office serves the citizens of Lamar County 24 hours a day.  Tracking dogs are available as needed from the Choice Moore Unit in Bonham, TX and there are 2 game wardens in Lamar County.  The State Department of Public Safety or Highway Patrol of Lamar County has a staff sergeant and patrolmen dispatched cars that are on patrol every day.  DPS also includes Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Narcotics Division, and Texas Rangers.
